The Gift

Tears are a gift
A telescope so that we might see the depth of our emptiness
And the fullness inside the nothingness

Beyond our sight lies a truth
That one must seek for himself

Be not quick to shed your tears
Instead, shed yourself
And for the first time
See the greatness of the universe

Tears are a gift
A telescope so that we might see the magnitude beyond ourselves
Look and be comforted

  1. Very nice… thoughtful images and flow, insightful.

  2. Oh yes! I do admire the deft way you handle levels of writing in these poems. Admirable. And always leave open the door to mystery – I do so hate poems that claim to know, to have a handle on it all.

  3. nice contrast here. i’d say though those first three lines have a huge impact on how the piece evolves. nicely done.

  4. “Be not quick to shed your tears
    Instead, shed yourself”

    Gorgeous.
